Detroit Axle Brakes-Good, Bad? | Jeep Wrangler Forum
Mar 5, 2020 · Hey Everyone, looking for options for my wife's JK's brakes. I bought a steering box from Deroit Axles for '05 TJ and have been satisfied, so when I saw the price for their brakes i was intrigued. Very cheap compared to others such as Power Stop. PS seems to be the most recommended brand out there other than Black Magic.

Apr 20, 2020 · So when we got this daily, it had 113000 on the clock. I slapped a set of $26 duralast pads on it as front brakes were done. Just turned 169000 the other day. Pads have 56000 miles on them and 30% life left. Hmmmm

Aug 29, 2018 · I never heard of Detroit Axle either. I happen to prefer pads with a bit more 'bite' (coefficient of friction) than OE even in my street-driven-only cars, so for them my go-to choices are either G-loc GS-1 or Carbotech 1521 (essentially the same formulation).

Sep 10, 2022 · Cool article!!! After reading it I’m more tempted to do the Detroit Axle I guess. Biggest review sites have them at 4.1 & 4.9 stars. Guess based off the article the higher priced & mid priced are just paying $ for piece of mind but no evidence to support the cheaper parts are junk I guess. Still looking around researching.

Feb 14, 2022 · At that age and mileage, all you need is a set of pads and new rotors. Maybe you can even just resurface your rotors. The JKs are know to wear through rear brakes quickly. You don’t need Powerstop brake kits, new axle shafts, etc.

Dec 25, 2011 · If your brake cylinder was leaking as badly as it appears to be, I'd expect the brake light on the dash to be on.
