One of the most effective strategies for combating domestic violence is education. By increasing awareness and providing resources and programs, education plays a crucial role in preventing domestic violence and supporting survivors.

Created by Love is Respect, these free toolkits for educators working with middle school and high school students aim to prevent domestic violence and dating abuse through education. Each toolkit includes information on the dynamics of dating abuse, discussion guides, printable resources and activities, and more.

NRCDV strengthens and transforms efforts to end domestic violence. For more than 25 years, the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence (NRCDV) has been a comprehensive source of information for those wanting to educate themselves and help others on the many issues related to domestic violence.

We find that oftentimes education and learning more about these topics can help victim-survivors make sense of what happened and equip them with tools that may help with the impacts of abuse.

This training includes all basics of domestic violence, including definitions, statistics and facts. We will explore types of abuse, the cycle of abuse, introduce educational tools, such as the power and control wheel and equality wheel, as well as discuss red flags and lethality indicators.

Professionals have traditionally viewed domestic violence as primarily involving severe and repeated physical abuse. In truth, a more comprehensive analysis reveals that it involves a broader spectrum of non-physical abuse patterns. Surprisingly, the signs of this abuse are often easier to identify than commonly perceived.
