The Eumo is a recessive (autosomal) mutation. Eumos miss the barbules/hooklets on the flights, which in effect turns the feathers into down This makes the feathers useless for flying, so the birds can’t.

Currently I have over 30 varieties of Zebra Finches. Below are some descriptions from a selection of the Zebra Finches that I breed and sell. As time permits I will eventually include information and photos on all of the birds.

Eumo and Charcoal. These are two very dark variations of the Zebra Finch. They have a noticeably silky look to the wings, this is a direct result of the feather barks not interlocking. Whilst this may be very pleasing to the eye, it actually hinders the bird’s natural ability to fly.
