Feb 6, 2011 · Saddle soap is a cleaner, hence the word soap. It should be used in step two to remove grit and grime before other steps. Try mink oil as the final step, let sit for a couple of hours, then buff the **** out of them!

Feb 28, 2011 · I used saddle soap (removed super quickly), let dry overnight, then brushed a bunch. That looked ok, but I then applied the smallest amount of crème 1925 with my fingers. Let that set in and brushed again. It looks good now. To verify results, I flicked some water on the shoes and no bloom appeared.

Jan 3, 2019 · I can’t answer your question definitively, but since soap and water can wash away grease and oils, I suspect saddle soap can dry out leather. For this reason, I always let my shoes/boots dry afterward, then apply some kind of conditioner.

Dec 19, 2009 · I would clean the shoes with a good pH balanced leather cleaner or saddle soap. Once the excess polish has been removed I would go over them again with Crema Alpina/Nubiana. Give the shoes a good buffing with a shoe brush, and if desired polish with the proper color of shoe polish. Acetone should be used with caution, and as a last resort.

Feb 28, 2011 · Saddle soap: I wouldn’t bother using this. It’s quite potent and should only be used on heavily dirty / soiled shoes. Or if you have wax buildup. Heel dressing: it’s mostly cosmetic, so whenever you feel you need to refresh your heel and sole edges. You can also use colored cream polish for this. Hope this helps.
