When you look through the regualr viewfinde, you are looking down at a mirror held at 45 degrees so you can see through the lens. When you press the shutter button, the mirror flips up, exposes the sensor to the light through the lens and then closes again.

Playback and camera look great through the viewfinder, but the output has grey block colour wherever the image is light (see images below) I've tried different cables and different monitors/televisions.
