Fresh mackerel is honestly one of the best eating fish you can get from the shore. When it’s just come out the water, still shining silver and blue, it needs nothing more than a bit of salt, maybe a squeeze of lemon, and a quick pan fry or grill. The flesh is rich, oily, and full of flavour, packed with omega 3s and completely different to the stuff you find frozen or in tins.
